Hey there, I love RPG games with character creations, I have a computer, PlayStation 4, 2, 1, Xbox360 and WiiU. I was looking for recommendations of good RPG games with character creation, like these ones for example that I already played (and liked): The Elder Scrolls series. Dragon Age series. Fable series (shame Legends got cancelled. I guess it goes back to playing D&D as a kid, but part of my favorite thing about any RPG is the character creation (not the way they look but the stats) and the leveling up of characters. I love games that can take hours trying to roll the perfect team. I still pop in Icewind Dale from time to time and spend an hour or so creating characters.
Character customization is an integral part of the MMORPG genre. Being able to create a character that fits a specific persona can help players immerse themselves in the game. Limited customization may not be a deal breaker for everyone, but I know many people who won't even play a game if classes are gender locked or if they can't customize their character in a certain way. Every MMORPG has a character creation menu with some customization, but some games take character creation a bit more seriously. I personally don't think character creation makes or breaks a game, but it can be incredibly fun fiddeling around on a game's character creation menu, especially when there are tons of sliders and customization options. I personally spent over an hour creating the perfect Victoria Secret hottie in Black Desert Online and I have no regrets. Anyway, whether you're looking to fiddle around or genuinely interested in playing games with only the best character creation systems, check out the list below:
MMORPGs with Great Character Customization
Black Desert Online
Proteus 8 professional download for windows 10 free. Normally these lists save the best for the last, but I'm going to go ahead and start this list off strong with what I consider to be the MMORPG with the best character creation system in the world. Black Desert Online is a gorgeous fantasy action MMORPG by the South Korean developer Pearl Abyss. Its character creation system is incredibly in-depth and allows players to customize everything from hair strands to eyeliner in incredible detail. Simply put, Black Desert is the gold standard of character creators in MMOs. Just check out the video above, which starts by showing off the game's character creator. Even if you have no interest in playing Black Desert, the character creator alone makes it worth the download in my opinion. The only downside here is that classes are gender locked.
Perfect World
It may be odd to see such an old MMORPG make it to this list, but despite originally launching in 2005 (in China) and 2008 in the West, Perfect World has an in-depth character creation system that goes above and beyond what most games offer. While most games allow reasonable levels of customization, Perfect World allows players to create absurd looking characters, from tiny heads and huge bodies to characters with glowing pink skin. Obviously players don't NEED to make absurd looking characters, but the fact that the game allows this shows off the extent of the game's customization. Even if you're not looking to make a Frankenstein style character, Perfect World has A LOT of customization sliders for everything from eye size to arm length.

This one is a bit of an oldie, as it released back in 2004, but Eve Online still has some of the best customization in any MMO. Even though there are a ton of options, players never really get to see much of their customization, as the game takes place almost exclusively in your ship. Still, if you want to see an awesome character creator at work, check out Eve Online. Especially since it went free to play in November, 2016.
Aion
Aion originally launched as a buy to play subscription game by NCSoft, but later went free to play. Despite originally launching in 2008, Aion still looks quite beautiful even today and features some of the best character customization I've seen in an MMORPG. Just take a look at the video above to see what the game's character creator offers.
Despite never launching in the West officially, the Japanese version of the game is playable by anyone from the West without any IP restrictions. The sci-fi MMORPG from Sega features one of the most in depth character customization systems of any MMO. Interested in checking the game out? See our guide on how to install and play PSO2 in English.
Champions Online
Champions Online is a unique game on this list because it's not another fantasy themed MMORPG. Instead, it's a superhero themed MMORPG, which means players get to create their very own superheroes. Run bat as administrator. The game originally launched back in 2009 as the successor to City of Heroes and one of the game's most prominent features is its in-depth character customization system. Given the nature of superheroes, the developers wanted every player to have a truly 'unique' character. Not only do players get to customize their character's body, but they get to create their own unique costume as well.
Blade and Soul
Blade and Soul originally released in South Korea back in 2012 but didn't launch in the West until early 2016. While the game doesn't offer nearly as much character customization as Black Desert, the game has a lot of sliders to play with. Blade and Soul also has a unique art style, which makes character models stand out a bit more too.
APB Reloaded
Although not an MMORPG, APB Reloaded features a surprisingly in-depth character creation system. I mean, just take a look at the video above and see for yourself. For those that haven't heard of APB, the game originally launched as simply 'APB All Points Bulletin' with a buy to play model, but after bankruptcy it was acquired by GamersFirst and relaunched as a free to play game and was renamed APB Reloaded.
There are obviously many more MMORPGs out there with 'good' character customization, but am I missing any games with 'great' customization? If so, let me know in the comments below and I'll update this list!

10 best RPGs for Xbox One
Nothing sucks you into a game quite like an RPG. The worlds are huge, the character development is vast, and the stories can be really good. However, not all RPGs are great. Some are vast, amazing experiences. Others just make you grind a bunch and generally suck. We’re hoping we can help you find something that you’ll have a lot of fun with. Here are the best RPGs for Xbox One. Please note, we are not ranking these games. The list is in alphabetical order. Additionally, these are all available as digital downloads on the Xbox Store. Our links will take you to Amazon to buy physical copies. Yes, they are Amazon affiliate links and we may make a buck or two if you buy a game after clicking the link.
Price: $19.99 each / $37.99 for both
Banner Saga 1 and 2 are tactical RPGs. The games take place in a conflict-ridden Viking world. It features classic strategy RPG mechanics, including a full checkerboard style battle map. There are dozens of characters to recruit across both games. Additionally, each title includes branching storylines. You can even port in your decisions from Banner Saga 1 into Banner Saga 2. Even for indie titles, these are far above average. However, they’re not for everyone. Strategy RPGs are very slow by nature. Plus, the story gives itself to long sequences of dialogue. Those who enjoy faster, twitch mechanics and fast-paced story-telling may not see the appeal in a title like this. Those that can will almost certainly enjoy this narrative-based RPG.
Price: $14.99 – $22.49
Child of Light is a side-scrolling RPG. It features gorgeous water color backdrops, hand-painted environments, and a quirky, indie-style look and feel. The combat is a mixture of traditional and modern. For instance, you can land a big attack to interrupt an enemy’s next attack if it’s preparing for one. However, it’s a turn-by-turn RPG at its core. The story follows a girl named Aurora as she battles the Queen of Darkness. As the game progresses, the character gets the ability to fly, meets new allies, and has a bunch of min-bosses and side quests to complete. It’s charming, simple, and inexpensive. $14.99 nabs you a full copy or you can get the Ultimate edition for $22.49 that includes all of the DLC.
Price: $29.99 – $84.99
Dark Souls III is among the most popular RPGs on Xbox One. Most know the series for its brutal difficulty. It has fewer RPG elements than most games on this list, but makes up for it with tight controls, a deep story line, and consistently challenging scenarios. The game’s environments are larger than prior games and that gives players something to explore as well. The only real downside is that it’s the third game in the series. Picking this up without playing the other two is doable. However, there is a lot of lore that you’ll miss out on. The base game is $59.99 and the $84.99 version comes with the base game as well as most of the DLC. You can also get Dark Souls III on Xbox One for $39.99.
Price: $31.49 – $59.99
Diablo III is the latest in a fantastic series of RPGs. This one has MMORPG elements, a huge world to explore, and plenty of quests to undertake. It also supports split-screen multiplayer or online co-op modes. That makes it great for multiple players in the same house. You’ll have several classes to choose from, a decent story to play through, and there are hidden Easter eggs such as Whimsyshire. $59.99 may seem steep for an aging game. However, the price does include the base game along with the Reaper of Souls expansion.
Price: $18.00 – $39.99
Divinity: Original Sin had a bit of a rocky start. The game required a Kickstarter to get extra funds for more features. There were also some delays to the launch. It’s a good thing they did all of that because the end result was actually really good. The game boasts one of the deeper character creation features currently available on RPGs. Additionally, the game play is a mix between classic RPG and strategy RPG. It also features a non-linear story and plenty of chances to do other stuff. The graphics won’t knock your socks off, but they’re good enough to be enjoyable. The start is a bit slow, though.
Price: $19.99 – $59.99
Dragon Age: Inquisition is one of the classic Xbox One RPGs at this point. It features a large world, complete with multiple locales for you to explore and enjoy. The story line is fairly short. However, there are dozens of hours of side quests to help fill in the blanks. It has a sizable cast of characters, an entertaining story line, recurring characters from prior entries in the franchise, and yes, there are dragons to slay. About the only bad thing about it is that most of the quests are cookie cutter. Someone tells you to go somewhere, kill this or obtain that, and then bring it back for rewards. That aspect can get tedious after a while. It’s also fairly cheap these days. $19.99 gets you the base game along with a bunch of in-game content.
Price: $29.99 – $104.99
Fallout 4 had more hype than any of the RPGs on this list when it came out. It had been years since the prior installment of the franchise and fans were ready for the next one. Thankfully, Bethesda delivered. The game has a lot of the same elements that made prior installments successful. That includes a huge, open world to explore, tons of stuff to do, and the franchise’s hallmark wit. You can also manage your own vault in the game on top of the quests and story. The base game is still at full price for $59.99. Alternatively, you can pick up the $104.99 version that includes the base game and some DLC.
Price: $33.99 – $84.99
Final Fantasy XV is probably the best Final Fantasy title since Final Fantasy X. It took a big turn from prior games when it shed the turn-based style in favor of a more real-time combat system. The game features a story line, a bunch of side quests, and a very natural feeling quick travel system. It’s had its flaws, especially when it comes to frame rates. Square Enix helps make up for it by releasing semi-frequent updates and DLC content. The $84.99 version comes with the Season Pass that gives you access to all of the currently announced DLC.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War (and Shadow of Mordor)
Middle-earth: Shadow of War is one of the newer Xbox One RPGs. It follows the story of Talion. His adventure involves getting revenge for the death of his family. It uses a fairly standard third-person, action-RPG mechanic. That includes combo hits and other fun little things. Players can also do side quests and explore Mordor when not engaged with the main story. It’s new and it’s still rather expensive. The developers did a good job with this one. The prior game in the Middle-earth series, Shadow of Mordor, is another excellent RPG from 2015. They currently have the Game of the Year edition on Amazon for $21.95. That’s not a bad price for what you get.
Price: $34.99 – $49.99
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the best RPGs ever made. It features a huge, story-driven campaign along with tons of side quests. Since the character can’t be customized, the interactions and dialogue feel less generic. Otherwise, it follows a lot of the basics when it comes to combat, open world exploration, and character skill development. It’s a good RPG as long as you don’t mind the walled garden approach to the main character. It’s been around for a while, so the price is also fairly reasonable. The $49.99 version contains all of the expansions and additional content. Those interested should definitely get that one since the add-ons are more expensive when purchased individually.
Price: $19.99
Mass Effect: Andromeda is a newer RPG. That made it really disappointing when the graphics weren’t what everyone expected. Thankfully, EA didn’t screw up too many other parts of the game. It features a decent story line, side quests, and a basic character creation process. The game doesn’t revolve around Commander Shepard, the main protagonist in the previous three titles. However, the new set of characters aren’t any better or worse than prior games. It stands well enough on its own, but players may not get everything if they haven’t played the previous games. Given its issues, we probably wouldn’t recommend this at its full $59.99 price. These days, the game goes for between $10 and $20. That's not bad for what you get.
